As a lifelong fan of hip-hop, I was honored to collaborate with Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest. Ali reached out to me to have me develop accompanying visual material for his set at Summer Sonic Tokyo 2023, where he performed an hour long set. I was confident in my ability to deliver on this project as it was a perfect combination of some of my biggest influences; hip-hop, 3D, and east Asian design. The visuals I created incorporated Ali’s influences and nods to his musical journey, set in an environment that I designed to morph over the course of his set and match the tone of the music.
